SASKATCHEWAN BEAUTY

Hello from Yorkton. Today got off to a lazy start with me sleeping in until almost 9:30. When I got moving a quickly discovered that it was a work day here in the Nelson household. The kiddies had been sent upstairs to get into work clothes and it was out to the backyard for most of us. Jeff and Bill had already brought down the last tree and I worked with the kiddies to remove old fence posts....a great lesson for them on levers. We all worked on a variety of things to get the yard a little closer to getting the new fence built. Kathy came out and started work in the garden picking her magic beans...and I ended up joining her on the weeding work party of two. I held in until 12:30...and then the heat of the day and the work did me in.

After a nice shower, Bill and I headed to the highway for a drive. We ended up all the way in Regina, and did some needed Costco shopping. We then had dinner at Five Guys before heading home.

Now I have to say here that Saskatchewan is a beautiful province.....so much countryside spreading so far into the horizon. The most majestic things are the canola fields. The wheat has not really got too high yet...but the canola is magnificent!!

Lastly, Happy Birthday to my sister in law...Lynn

loves her playtime

I LOVE SURPRISES

This was another fun filled week in Yorkton, with a SUPER surprise thrown in. Long before I headed west, Bill and I had many discussions about how this western adventure would unfold. We had to figure out how I'd travel between Calgary and Yorkton, and at one point Bill thought he might meet me in Calgary and we'd drive to Yorkton. Bill however isn't one for long visits with anyone ( except maybe Mickey Mouse),. He gets somewhat restless staying in one spot. He knew that I wanted an extended stay with Kathy, so instead he flew me from Calgary to Regina, then worked on a different time window for him to visit. Then he added Karen and Olivia into the plan and a surprise for Kathy was in the works. I really wasn't sure that we'd pull this off....but it was a grand surprise on Thursday.
I had planned that we'd all go out for dinner that night, and Bill was going to surprise the family at the restaurant. However, a friend of Jeff's arrived for a visit and kind of messed up that plan. Instead Bill, Karen and Olivia arrived at the house. Kathy Jeff and friend were in the backyard when they arrived. I walked them through the house ( kids were all upstairs) and out to the back deck. Kathy was back on and so I called out to her that someone was here to see her. She turned and at first only Bill registered to her view....then she realized that \Karen and Olivia were there....and it was an awesome reunion. We called for the kiddies, and they were equally shocked!!!
Yummy dinner out at the Yorkton Buffet followed!!
Here are some other highlights of the week.

more strawberry picking on Wednesday...yummy jam all stored

view out the window after some rain

same day....some really beautiful cloudy skies

Georgia and Scout...always having fun

sleeping with the princess

A little further note about sleeping with Georgia....I was awake and watching her sleep ( I love watching kids sleep)
All of a sudden she sits up...roots around for her giraffe...grabs it and falls back to sleep....the final photo is how this sweetheart woke up....huge smile on her precious face!!

Jacob and Scout....this dog is so sweet with the kids

I reset up Cooper's train set.....lots of fun on this table

love watching him play trains

My special number one grandson!!!
I have tried to do some special times with each of the kids, especially the older ones, to recognise them in different ways.
I have always called Jacob my gentle one. He continues to be that way, and I absolutely adore him for it. He is always ready to do whatever I ask of him, he's kind to his siblings, especially his little brother, he's so fun to talk to and so much more.
We went for a fun walk together, and booster juice was his treat of choice

Miss Polly....our shy puppy...she loves Jeff

Found this card that Kathy received from Laura....really love it

Wednesday strawberries
then came Thursday...I was so excited for these guys to arrive....and they'd text me as they travelled and send me photos ( and I'd had to hide them, and delete messages in case anyone picked up my phone.)
Olivia at the airport

Meanwhile in Yorkton we're working on clearing the backyard of more tree branches....kids loved climbing on top

Thursday afternoon I got to take Cooper to his speech class...he was so cute there.

Then the reunion......

Back in Yorkton....Poppy's relaxing watching a movie and his little girls cuddle up next to him

After supper tonight we headed to Scoops Ice Cream store...and as we walked we could hear this train. This trains can be heard lots, and they stop traffic as they crisscross through Yorkton.
It was a nice long one and kiddies enjoyed it

yeah for ice cream

delicious....we missed having Sarah, Kathy and Jeff

It's been a full week. We have one full week left and then we head back to the east coast. I've loved seeing these kiddies ( and their parents) plus Laura will be here next week for a couple of days ( she's coming with her cousin Annie)
I'm a blessed momma to have all of this time with my kids
 ( who I miss deeply)
I'm excited though too to travel home and not live out of a suitcase.
I miss family there too, and my own bed!!!
PS....I had a sweet note on facebook from sister Lynn who was missing my blog. Thanks!!
A special happy birthday to Lynn....see you soon!!
